Q. The SEARCH Bar doesn't bring up my cartridge, does that mean you don't sell it?

A. No, we sell a very wide range of products. The search bar works most effectively when the full product number is typed in e.g. C6578AE or T13T001011. The model of the printer used can also be typed in e.g. Stylus Photo 1200, but this is not always so effective. If in doubt there is always a member of staff available to help with your enquiry.

Q. What is the difference between an ink cartridge and a toner cartridge?

A. An ink cartridge, also known as an inkjet cartridge, contains liquid ink, usually water-based and sometimes oil based. The printer uses pressure to apply the ink to paper. It is disperses through small holes in the cartridge. Some single colour cartridges have just one chamber but colour cartridges usually have 3 or more chambers. Some cartridges have a chip which communicates with the printer. Ink cartridges are usually smaller than toner cartridges.

A toner cartridge, also known as a laser toner cartridge, contains powder- not liquid. A laser is used to burn the toner onto the paper. The heat of the fuser melts the powder onto the paper which allows it to attach to the paper, creating the required text and  images. Toner cartridges are larger in size than ink cartridges and produce more prints. They usually print at least 5,000 pages but the amount does vary considerable for different cartridges (see individual cartridges for more information). As a toner cartridge usually gives more prints than an ink cartridge they generally cost more. Despite a larger outlay toner cartridges usually give the best value for money.

Inkjet printers use ink cartridges and laser printers use toner cartridges. Generic cartridges are often available for both types of cartridge and work out cheaper to buy.
