HP Imaging Drum Kit

From time to time you will also need an imaging drum, also known as an HP drum unit. Your printer will put up a message to advise you when you need a new one.

If you do not see the drum unit you require on the website please call 01234 713137 or email sales@theinkandtonershop.co.uk for help.

Why do I need an imaging drum?

Simply, the imaging drum is electrically charged to pick up toner around the image. It then deposits it on the paper, ready to print. As the drum unit is used it gradually loses the charge and toner is no longer picked up and sometimes even deposited into the printer.

What is an image transfer kit?

An image transfer kit is part of your printer hardware. It is called a transfer kit because the toner image is transferred to this electrostatic kit, where it is placed and alligned and then transferred to the paper. The image is the fused on permanently. The unit lasts for hundreds of thousands of prints.

What is a fuser unit?

The fuser is made up of a pair of heated rollers. As the paper passes through these rollers the loose toner melts and fuses to the paper. The fuser ensures smudge-free printing and will need to be changed periodically. The printer will flash up a message when this is necessary. See your printer manual if you are unsure.
