HP Printheads

The Ink and Toner Shop supply the complete range of genuine HP printheads for your HP printer.

Why do some HP printers have a separate printhead?

Many HP desktop printers have the printhead and ink cartridge integrated into the same unit and this is an ideal system for many users. However HP designed a system, originally aimed at professional photographers and the high end print market, using separate printheads and individual colour cartridges. This system is now commonplace and appeals to many users, both in the office and at home.

Advantages of an integrated HP printhead

The advantages of this system are you only need to replace one particular colour cartridge when it runs out and you only need to change the printhead when needed. This system is a good economical choice, especially when true colour prints are a priority.

HP Printhead Outlay

The printheads can seem expensive for the initial outlay but remember they can last for years. When it is neccesary to change your HP printhead a message will appear on the printer. The printhead is located in the printer and is as simple as an ink cartridge to change.

Easy Printhead Maintenance

There should be no need to do anything, but you may need to clean your printhead if the ink cartridge has been stored for a long time or if the printer is not used on a regular basis. Should this occur you may get poor prints with white horizontal lines running through them. HP printhead cleaners are available for many printers. Some printers have cleaning programmes you can run. Consult your printer manual for more information.

Handy Hint To Keep Your HP Printhead in Top Condition

When you don't print very often, to avoid the need to clean the printhead, print a test print once a week. This will avoid any problems with cartridges drying out.
