HP Cyan Ink Cartridges
If you need to buy an HP cyan ink cartridge your printer will take individual colour cartridges. Each individual cartridge contains just one colour, for example cyan, magenta, yellow or black.
HP Cyan, Magenta & Yellow Ink Cartridges
Varying colours are produced when cyan, magenta and yellow are mixed together. Mixing yellow and cyan produces shades of green. Mixing cyan and magenta produces shades of blue and mixing yellow and magenta produces reds. Mixing all three produces grey.
HP Black Ink Cartridges
To save ink and get better results with decreased drying time black is used in conjunction with cyan, magenta and yellow. This is known as the CMYK model. The "C" stands for cyan,"M" for magenta, "Y" for yellow and "K" for black. Black, in printing terms, is known as the KEY colour, hence black is known as "K".
