Canon Toner Cartridges
A laser printer is connected to a computer and can only print the information sent by the computer. Laser printers are in many ways superior to inkjet printers. The print quality is better, they print faster, are easier to maintain and usually last longer. However they are generally more expensive and bulkier than inkjet printers. You will need to replace the toner cartridges and other consumables as necessary.
Canon Copier Cartridges
A copier contains a glass plate and a scanner. A copier will scan and replicate the image exactly. Documents can often be stored for later use in an internal hard drive.
The copier scans an image into memory while an electronically charged, photosensitive imaging drum rotates attracting toner particles onto the surface in areas where the charge interacts with the scanned image, making the image visible upon the drum. The image is then transferred from the drum to the sheet of paper via static electricity. The paper with the toner image in place then passes through the fusing system. Here it is pressed by coated rollers and baked permanently into place.
A choice between mono and colour laser copiers is available. Black prints are cheaper than colour prints if colour is not a requirement. Copiers come in a range of sizes and speeds. Wider ranging, faster copiers will cost significantly more than standard ones.
